Scottish Marshals Training Programme 2016

Marshals are a vital part of motorsport and the numbers needed to run a race meeting, stage rally or hillclimb can be really quite high.  Clubs across Scotland have been recruiting heavily through 2015, and we now have 274 registered marshals across Scotland.  There are also many more who haven’t yet registered but continue to provide invaluable support at events across Scotland.

Scottish Association of Car Clubs Meeting held in Bridge of Allan 16th June 2015

The most recent meeting was again a mixture of routine, but none the less important, procedural stuff, including vital communication from the MSA, interspaced with a very active debate on a range of related topics.
In terms of proceedings, one of the key things that clubs should be making members aware of is the ongoing high workload at the MSA. The governing body for UK motorsport looks after our interests by getting involved in all sorts of stuff including important legislation from the UK and European Governments that we might otherwise never hear about until we trip over them. One of these is a move by the EU to legislate by 2017 for mandatory 3rd party insurance for every motorised vehicle regardless of where it is used.

Reivers at the Ready

This weekend’s Jim Clark Reivers Rally marks the halfway point in the 8 round ARR Craib National Scottish Rally Championship.

First run in 1970 this year’s event will return to its roots. Tree roots, that is. Having run as a ‘Closed Public Road’ rally since 1997, using stretches of public road closed by Act of Parliament within Berwickshire, this year’s event will revert to forestry road Special Stages just over the Border in Northumberland.

18 Mar: SACC AGM and Meeting

… Bunfight at Bridge of Allan … This is going to upset a few folk. So be it …
The Scottish Association of Car Clubs held their AGM and regular meeting last night in central Scotland. For the first two hours it was like watching the slow death of a kid’s favourite R/C car with a set of cheap rechargeables running on their last spark. No wonder that many of Scotland’s 50+ car clubs don’t bother to turn up to such meetings.
