Social Media Marketing webinars for clubs - starting this Tuesday 10 November at 19:00

Tuesday 10th November at 19:00, we have the first of our Monthly Marketing Show webinars in association with ContentCal.

Clubs are always looking for ways in which they can raise awareness of their activities and attract new members, particularly younger ones. It is a fact that social media is now the most effective way of achieving this.

However, simply putting posts on your Facebook page is only the starting point - in order to widen the reach of your social media output you need to utilise many more of the tools at your disposal. The good news is that many of these are free.

This series of webinars will teach you how to use these tools effectively, how to put together a content plan, and some simple techniques for reaching interested audiences that may currently be outside of your club's engagement methods.

To register, please go to the Club Webinars page on our website here: https://www.motorsportuk.org/clubs-organisers/club-webinars/

Regards,

Ian

Andy Wilson Autotest Postponed

Unfortunately Glenrothes MSC will have to postpone the Andy Wilson Autotest / AutoSolo scheduled for Saturday 01st August at Knockhill, as we will be unable to run the event within the current guidelines from Sport Scotland.

We will continue
to work with our partners at Knockhill Racing Circuit to establish an alternative date, hopefully in the near future to get club motorsport up and running in Fife.

Could you please let me know if you want your entry fee carried on to the rescheduled event or refunded.

SAMSC Statement on SMS

It is with considerable sadness that I am sharing the news with you that today sees the end of the Scottish Motor Sport (SMS) project. Please see attached the formal notification of this issued by Motorsport UK today. Also attached is a note from Kevin Ferguson, the SMS partnership manager at sportscotland giving a little more background.
Kevin was due to speak to us at our meeting on 17th March before it was cancelled.

SMS was established in 2011 as a project vehicle through which to approach the Scottish Government, via Sportscotland, to secure an investment of public funds to help develop motorsport in the same way that such funding supports many other sports. Since then, SMS has been a collaboration between the governing body of two-wheel motorsport in Scotland, the Scottish Auto Cycle Union, and the governing body of four-wheel motorsport in the UK, Motorsport UK.

Mr Peter Weall
Chairman
Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs

Dear Peter

I wanted to provide a clear update to you and your associate clubs on how sportscotland, as
the national agency for sport, is investing in motorsport in Scotland.

Over the past six years, we have chosen to invest in Scottish Motor Sports (SMS). SMS is a
strategic partnership between Motorsport UK and Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU). Our
investment has always been for the development of grassroots two- and four-wheel
motorsport.

Scottish Auto Cycle Union and Motorsport UK Conclude SMS Partnership

31 March 2020

The Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU) and Motorsport UK today announced the conclusion of the Scottish Motor Sports (SMS) partnership.

The partnership was established in 2011 as a collaboration between the governing body of two-wheel
motorsport in Scotland, the SACU, and the governing body of four-wheel motorsport in the UK, Motorsport UK.

The collaboration benefited from historic funding from the Scottish Government through sportscotland which has allowed it to focus on a number of grassroots sports and club development initiatives.

Marshals Social Event Saturday 8th Feb. (And optional Rally Marshals Training during the day)

We can't wait to see you all again at the 2020 Marshals Social on Saturday 8th February at The Adamson Hotel, Crossford, Dunfermline.
As last year was such a blast, we are expanding this year and running a Marshals Training day as well to allow us to get even more from the day.
We know how important our tummies and beauty sleep are, especially after a days training and in advance of a few ‘sherbets’, so there’s a fixed price dinner option and a 10% discount if you wish to stay overnight. Just mention the Motorsport event when booking, the overnight discount is available for both the Friday and the Saturday nights.
