The most recent meeting was again a
mixture of routine, but none the less important, procedural stuff, including
vital communication from the MSA, interspaced with a very active debate on a
range of related topics.
In terms of proceedings, one of the
key things that clubs should be making members aware of is the ongoing high
workload at the MSA. The governing body for UK motorsport looks after our
interests by getting involved in all sorts of stuff including important
legislation from the UK and European Governments that we might otherwise never
hear about until we trip over them. One of these is a move by the EU to
legislate by 2017 for mandatory 3rd party insurance for
every motorised vehicle
regardless of where it is used.
Clubs promoting motorsport events in Scotland identified some time ago that action was needed to improve recruitment, retention and training of marshals. SACC Club representatives have heard on several occasions about the Marshalling initiative to be set up in Scotland.
But the mechanics of a workable proposal were not that easy ....
… Bunfight at Bridge of Allan … This is going to upset a few folk. So be it …
The Scottish Association of Car Clubs held their AGM and regular meeting last night in central Scotland. For the first two hours it was like watching the slow death of a kid’s favourite R/C car with a set of cheap rechargeables running on their last spark. No wonder that many of Scotland’s 50+ car clubs don’t bother to turn up to such meetings.
The original of this report, and a lot of other good rants by John Fife, is at http://www.jaggybunnet.co.uk/2015/03/12-mar-safety-review-act-now/ Written by jaggybunnet on March 12, 2015 … John Cleland (President of the SACC) and John Fife (Press) were invited to a meeting yesterday (11th March) at the Scottish Government’s offices in Leith. It was enlightening, positive and upbeat. It was also decidedly scary! … Be fearful, be very fearful …
The original of this report by John Fife is athttp://www.jaggybunnet.co.uk/2015/02/7173/ The following report is from last night’s (24th Feb) Scottish Association of Car Clubs meeting in Bridge of Allan. It’s quite a long report but if you have the interests of Scottish rallying at heart, then it should be of interest. As Rob Jones (MSA Chief Exec) said: “To do nothing is not an option”. The future of our sport is in our hands.
