Volunteer, Club, Sustainable Club, and Organising Team of the Year Awards
A reminder that the nominations window for these awards closes on 31 October.
Celebrating the commitment and dedication of our volunteering and club community, these four awards showcase the best that British motorsport has to offer. You can show how your club and members are going the extra mile to be the backbone of motorsport. More information about each award and how to nominate can be found on the Motorsport UK website.
Motorsport UK Event Secretary and Event Steward Workshops
The first series of Event Secretary and Event Steward workshops will commence at the end of this month. The Scottish workshop will be held at the Dunblane Hydro Hotel on 19 November.
All individuals who are interested in, or actively perform these roles, are encouraged to take part although attendance is not mandatory. These workshops will be as hands-on as possible and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the duties involved, develop existing skills share experience with others. While all are welcome to attend, attendance is particularly encouraged from those within the grassroots disciplines of the sport.
Due to the limited space available, preference will be given to those who primarily carry out Event Secretary or Event Steward duties and are not already licensed Motorsport UK Stewards or Clerks of the Course. Seminars for Licensed Motorsport UK Stewards and Clerks of the Course will take place in early 2023.
To register for a workshop, please complete the registration form HERE. Attendees will be able to claim their mileage at the rate of 45p per mile for up to 100 miles each way and lunch and other refreshments will also be provided.
If you cannot attend any of the initial dates, there will be a second series of workshops taking place in January and February 2023 although provisional locations for these workshops do not include a Scottish venue.

SAMSC Meeting June 2022 - Bruce Lyle elected Chair

Bruce Lyle was unanimously appointed as Chair of the Association on an interim basis until the next Annual General Meeting.
This is a key appointment for the Association as not only does it provide us with the leadership the Association needs at this time but Bruce will also, over the next few months, oversee the recruitment of a successor.
A successful and experienced former competitor himself, Bruce has held varied senior positions across Scottish motorsport over many years including representing Scotland on the Motor Sports Council.

Scottish Autotest Championship - Points before the final event
After some rounds of the Championship were cancelled or postponed we have decided that the Championship counters will now be reduced to 7,
the last round will be the Kames Autotest on Sun. 31st October, which I am sure will be a fitting finale to the 2021 Championship which at one point did not look like it would be possible. As well as the Scottish Championship counter, Gordon Clendinning has organised a Maximum Attack MX5 Challenge, which already has a good entry, even if you are not competing it would be worth the trip to see some of these drivers in action.
The Championship will be decided on the drivers best 4 scores from 7 and as Gordon has scored Maximum points on each round he can not be caught on 128 points, bit it is still undecided who will be runner up as counting their 4 best scores, the current standings are Gary Clark on 115 points, James Morrison on 116 points and Paul Davidson on 117 points, so its all to play for on the final event.
Championship Points
See you at Kames.
Thanks
Bill

GREEN LIGHT FOR SCOTTISH RALLYING
Great news for rallying in Scotland - the Scottish Government has agreed to drop the rule that only members of the same household could share a car for motorsport.
This means that rallying, trials, etc can resume almost as normal, but this applies only in areas at Level 3 or below, and there are still requirements, like face coverings in the car, and no spectators. Guidelines issued by Motorsport UK must be followed, an update is expected Friday 14th May
Read on for more details from Chairman Pete.
SAMSC Scottish Autotest Championship 2021 Starts Sat 15 May

More details of the Championship, including the Regulations and Registration form, are also on the Autotest Page of the SAMSC site, along with Regulations for the event, which include a link to the online entry form.
